Nineteen and a Half
City artsquad Artists recently presented a group exhibition at the Moxie Studio Gallery titled 'Nineteen and a Half'. The show, which opened on the 11.03.2011, was introduced by Tony Fagan of Rua Red and was followed by an astounding performance by artist Sinéad Cunningham, who silenced the crowd with renditions of songs by Neil Young, Abba and the Strokes.
The show brought together the work of current city artsquad participants which included; painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video art and documentary. This provided the artists involved with putting on the show a much needed platform to promote their own work outside of their community arts practice. The exhibition also successfully demonstrated the diversity of talent offered by the artists on the scheme and their ability to make such events happen for themselves in the time of recent cuts to funding and support.
