Aileen Curtin
Aileen Curtin is the art of making tea. From Wexford by way of Cork, she has been living and working in Dublin for the past ten years. As a largely self-taught artist her practice centres on maintaining an art brut approach to the traditional institutional language of art and attempts to make each of life's motions an artistic expression. The project 'I am not a God' is a long term work in progress.
A material expression of philosophical introspection, a beginning to peel off the layers of societal norm to find a human in art, bound by her possibilities and those imposed upon her by her place in time. The play of light and the momentary aspect it imparts is integral to the piece. The piece has previously been shown at the 2008 group show 'Hi-Vis' at Kinsealy House Studios and Westgate Design, Wexford for the 2008 Festival Opera.
